Two Days Before Graduation...

It's two days before graduation and I now have a feeling of peace in the midst of the hustle and bustle of things. It hasn't always been like this though. This week I found myself writing out a list of my assignments that were to be completed this week, along with everything that I was to be expecting for this week and honestly, I found myself in a hurry to get all of the things on my list done... rushing from one thing to the next with the goal of essentially finishing everything that needed to be done before Saturday (aka graduation day) came and as today, Thursday, came rolling around, I was simply overwhelmed because, of course I'm not perfect, and I started to recognize that I was behind and I have two exams coming up (yes, after graduation... thanks Eastern). Anyhow, I became overwhelmed and stressed and was about to go order take out when God, through a women I follow on Instagram, confronted me and brought it to my attention that not only was I beginning to run away from my responsibilities, but that this could also possibly cause for me to run from Him.
See, so often God has to bring me bck to Him and His grace because I find myself getting caught up in trying to take matters in my own hands. Sometimes I find it so hard to believe that after I've done all that I can, all that is left for me to do is rest -- rest in my weaknesses, because it is then that my Father, the God of the world, moves and is made strong in me (2 Corinthians 12:9). Faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen (I like to think not yet seen). I realized all over again that it's my job to have faith in the Lord, and it's His job to do the rest, which is all of what I cannot. In a society where it's so hard for us to not be in control of our lives, it's hard to fathom the fact that a perfect God wants us to give what we cannot do to Him, while remaining in fully believing and having faith that things will work out for our good (Romans 8:28) -- it has to. See, friends, sometimes God calls us to a season of being "okay" with living in the imperfections of life -- having faith that the God of our salvation is who He says He is, while even in the midst of feeling like we our losing our mind.
Each time He said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast abou tmy weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
I felt like I was losing my mind earlier, and as God reminded me I was looking in the wrong direction to feel my void, that food couldn't feel any void of mine, but only the Lord, I surrendered. I surrendered to the Lord and no, it didn't look pretty. It was random. One minute I was crying tears of sadness, then tears of joy, and the next minute I was singing praises to the Lord. But what the Lord revealed to me was that as I surrendered, his love contested every insecurity, everything in me that was contrary to Him... it had to leave and in the end, I was left with complete, perfect peace.
And so, family, I want to encourage you today to wait on God. In the midst of the stress, silence, imperfections -- when everything feels like a mess -- wait on the Lord (Isaiah 40:31). Tell Him, confess to Him, cry out to your Heavenly Father about what's on your heart! Surrender to Him and watch Him bring peace to you soul, even when the world around you is crying the opposite (Philippians 4:6-7).
The Lord is on your side. Let us be a generation that continually delights in coming to an end of ourselves, crying out to the Lord, and knowing that He is God, and He WILL come through.
A message from the Lord from me to you,
Signed,
LaGerrica D. Simmons
